A keyword, or group of keywords (aka keyword phrase) is how search engines index you - or add you to their database. When anyone does a search in an engine, like Google, they enter in words or a phrase. The engine then matches up your query with their database. The list you are presented with is in an ordered rank - highest ranked site to lowest.
The first thing you want to do is think about your website, and then search the engines for those keywords which best suit your business. This is called your keyword niche.These will be the words you then target in your meta tags and website content.
Example: you Admin a traffic exchange. The most obvious key word is traffic exchange. When you search in the major engines, you will find other, related key words or phrases that can apply to your site. Autosurf traffic exchange, auto surf traffic exchange, manual traffic, manual surf traffic exchange, click to surf, and no click surfing are among the list of alternate keyword phrases people search on when looking for website traffic or hits to websites. These are words you will want to use in several places including your meta tag key word list, your title, your description, and in your page content.
So the first step is to in fact find your target keywords.
As you progress, you may find other niches you want to dominate as well. Example: internet advertising specialties or online marketing. A traffic exchange fits those two catagories. It is an internet advertising resource and provides online marketing for those wanting to promote their website on the internet. If you added a special feature like Xtream did with the digital product ep-library, that opens up a new key word niche to explore. You may have other keyword niches that apply to your site as well. Once you have decided on your target keywords, you want to get them into your webpages. If you are publishing your own index page, you would use these codes for your meta tags:
<meta name="author" content="You or Your Company">
<meta name="description" content="Description of your website. Include targeted keywords here in complete sentences.">
<meta name="keywords" content="targeted keywords, seperated, by, commas,">
<meta name="abstract" content="targeted keyword phrase" >
These tags should be placed below your first Head tag <head>.
A title is needed, and that can actually be accomplished one of two ways.
By a meta tag:
<meta name="title" content="Your website title with a major keyword">
With an <h> tag:
<h1>website name with key words in a phrase</h1>
Sometimes formating works with h tags, which can be useful:
<STYLE TYPE="text/css">
H1 {font-family: Verdana,Arial,Times New Roman; font-size: 8pt; color: black}
</STYLE>
<h1>website name with key words in a phrase</h1>
I acutally find using an h tag to be very effective. You can do both in fact!
TrEx traffic exchange scripts:
The TrEx traffic exchange script, as in other skeleton scripts, have configuration in place that create your place your meta tags without the need for html code, and then place them where they need to be. You simply type in the information. To optimize each page in your TrEx traffic exchange, go to:
